The Europa Conference is a newly established league that will begin play in the 2021-22 season. This competition is the younger brother of the UEFA Europa League, and it is essentially a third-tier European tournament. This was implemented in order to reduce the Europa League campaign from 48 to 32 teams. As a result, this competition features lower-ranked European teams.

The UEFA Nations League is an annual international football tournament in which UEFA member associations compete against one another. The competition was first held in 2018 and has been ongoing since then. Four divisions were created from 54 UEFA national teams. 12 clubs were assigned in leagues A and B, 14 in league C, and the remaining 16 in league D. In each league, four groups of four teams were formed, and the clubs were placed based on their worldwide football rankings. Teams can be promoted or demoted depending on their table position. In League A, the champions of each group advance to the Nations League final. This tournament was won by Portugal and France. Because conventional international friendlies aren't competitive, this is a good complement to an international event. However, now that this league has been added, there are more competitive matches on the world stage.
