Printer and Printers components can generally last much longer than most of us know it to. Ink-jet Printers are known to demand replacement every 3-4 years, while Laser Printers last much longer. Some Laser Printers have also been known to last for ten full years. Yes! One whole decade! Here are some tips that you can use to enhance the longevity of your printer and its components. These tips would be helpful to you, no matter what printer you use:
Cleanliness The first tip is to keep your printer clean. Printers hate dust, be it from paper or otherwise. If you live in a dusty place or have pets at your place, take care to cover your printer with a cloth when you don't use it. Also, remove the dust from the paper sheets before you use them in your printer.
Paper Jam Paper jam is a problem most printer users face. If a paper gets jammed in your printer, don't try to force it by pulling. It can be hazardous for your printer. First, it will damage your printer and printers' wheel. Secondly, bits of torn paper might remain inside your cricut dye sublimation printer, which will cause harm later. Then, what should you do? Most printers have a hatch at their back. You can remove this hatch and can expose the printer wheel and the jammed paper. You can then remove the paper easily.
Turning Off the Printer Turn off the printer from the Turn On/Off switch on the printer. If you need to unplug the printer from power supply, make sure to Turn Off the switch before unplugging. This helps prevent the drying up of ink on the cartridges. Never turn off or unplug your printer when it is still in process of printing.
